Youth/Discipleship Pastor - Dave Hohulin

I was born in 1957 and at the age of four headed overseas with my missionary parents.  We went to the Philippine Islands where I would spend the bulk of my childhood.  I returned to the land of Big Macs for my senior year of high school ending up in a small little known (yet somehow compelling) town named Gibson City.

I graduated from high school there, attended Parkland and then finished my college career at Moody Bible Institute, graduating in 1980.  Returning to the Gibson City area, I quickly met and married a gorgeous redhead named Renee.

After the tropics I found myself less than enthused at the prospect of shoveling snow for the rest of my life so I whisked my new wife to sunny, warm, Texas (which actually is part of the USA, although they claim to be their own country).  There we spent the next 20+ years where we grew a family, Josh(19), Rachel (17) and Gabby (13).  I spent those years primarily working in various management jobs in the food, retail, corporate world.

Four years ago God saw fit to bring us back to cold country to help care for Renee’s ailing father (yes God does indeed have a sense of humor).  After a short time here I was given the opportunity and privilege of serving the GCBC body as youth/discipleship pastor.  I love serving here and really enjoy the youth (probably because I never grew up).  Isn’t it amazing that when you get to serve the Lord, even shoveling snow doesn’t seem so bad!
